Club Length

Club fitting is the process of being fitted for all of your unique, individual swing characteristics in the 14 key fitting specifications (see Benefits of Club Fitting) which determine your bespoke fit.

Properly fit clubs will help you immeasurably in delivering more distance, more fairways and greens hit in regulation, a higher percentage of on centre shots, and greater shot-making consistency to reduce the effect of mistakes in your swing.

Irons are for accuracy and should be fit based on your height and wrist-to-floor measurements to determine the starting length of the combined hybrid/iron set. The final length is then a process of swing evaluation to determine if the initial length recommendation should be altered slightly longer or shorter based on the golfer’s posture, flexibility and comfort over the ball and through impact.

However, we do not recommend driver or fairway wood length is fitted based on your height and wrist-to-floor measurements.

 What I do.

During fittings, most golfers are more consistent, longer and straighter using a driver built in the 44.25”- 44.75” range and I do not believe manufacturers building drivers upwards of 45.5”-46” are best suited for most golfers.

At these lengths, many golfers swing speeds actually slow down. The extra length can yield longer drives, but longer into the woods or water doesn’t help you or your game.

Your driver should be fit for you at “the longest length you can control” with consistent on-centre strikes. From there, the length of each of your woods should be determined from your fitted driver length.
