Shaft Selection
The weight of the shaft is important to ALL golfers, regardless of handicap, score or ability.
The weight of the shaft is the number one factor that controls the total weight of the club.
In order to fit all golfers with shafts that will provide optimum performance AND feel, there is a lot more that goes into shaft fitting than just clubhead speed. Equally as important to fit the shaft to the golfer is:
the overall pace of their swing (their SWING TEMPO);
to analyse the way they change direction from backswing to downswing (their TRANSITION);
and how close to impact they unhinge their wrist-cock angle (or RELEASE).

What I do.
First, I fit for shaft weight and club length.
Then, I utilise shaft comparison software measuring the BMT and EI profiles of the whole length of the shaft to make initial shaft selections.
Shaft stiffness design selection has to be made not just on the basis of the butt frequency, but on the basis of the stiffness of the full length of the shaft and profile that best suits your individual swing for Swing Speed, Transition, Swing Tempo and Release.
