MOI Matching
I prefer to use the engineering process of Moment of Inertia (MOI) matching for my clubs as the MOI of any object is a measurement of its resistance to being put in motion around a defined axis of rotation.
MOI matching is an alternative for swingweight matching which can offer a better way to build clubs that truly are matched to each other and identical in swing feel and offers golfers the shot consistency improvement benefits of MOI matching.
The MOI matching process occurs during the fitting with either your own club or a demo club which will have lead tape applied in increments until the highest on centre hit consistency is established.
Due to the fact that golfers can be quite different in their strength, tempo and swing mechanics, the right MOI must be identified and custom fit for each golfer to allow the concept to properly work.
At this point the MOI of the club is measured and it is this MOI value that is then matched.
MOI matching for woods, irons, or wedges should be done separately and each have would have their own MOI value determined during the fitting process.
Note: The decision is always yours. I am happy to explain and demonstrate the benefits of MOI matching to you however I will build to a swingweight match at your request.
